About

ChristopherPyett0094Barbara Pyett lives in Pearcedale, country Victoria, Australia with her artist husband, Christopher, and Millie, their Spoodle. Childhood sweethearts; later following Christopher to art school in the 1960s. Their lives linked up thirty years on and they were married at McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park on 30th June, 2000 with their five children in attendance.

After many travels, Barbara completed her degree in her early 40s and taught in special schools in Canberra before coming to Victoria to marry Christopher. She now divides her time between writing, gardening and enjoying her grandchildren, with occasional trips to visit family.

Barbara has written her memoir, ‘Enduring Threads’, as yet unpublished. She had her first children’s book published in 2011, a Christmas story, titled, ‘Lily’s Wish.’ She continues to write for children and is looking into possible ways of publishing her work.

Paula, how sweet of you! I appreciate being missed! All is well. I have joined a writer’s group and am writing, but not wanting to put it on the web at this stage. I hope you are well. Yes, I do hope to get back to blogging, as I do miss the interaction. I found it took more time than I was prepared to spend. Must be more disciplined. Love to you Paula, B. ❤

Auntie Uta, thank you for such a lovely comment and to know you’re not far away in NSW. I’m most impressed with your blog, and like the way you write about serious topics.
The pre-edited version of the first part of Enduring Threads is on my blog, but i should do something about getting the whole thing published, even if self published.
It feels a huge thing for me to tackle at the moment, so it will continue to sit there in the one day basket.

The painting is really pretty and impressive. I like the colors and the artistic lines -very lively! Thank you again to visit and have dropped very nice comments on my blog! My first English novel is also on the road for publishing. It takes a lot energy but I have been enjoying every single drop of my sweat. Now first I wish you success on the book!:-)

It seems to me that your life started in early 40’s 🙂 What degree did you get, Barbara? Has someone other than you written that introduction? I wonder cause of the third person….

James, I do appreciate your thought, but I am a ‘No Awards Blog’, I should have a bigger sign, but haven’t got to that yet.
Thanks for your kindness in recommending me James! 😀

Hi Barbara, I know these are kind of like chain letters and I normally don’t participate, but I received 2 award nominations last week and decided to participate this time in Blog Awards.

In my acknowledgement / nomination section, I nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award due to the great information you share and the way you build community. You have a great knack for getting reader participation on your site and I admire that. You inspire me. Take a look when you get a moment and thanks for all your great work Barbara!

    Hi Prior,
As I can’t locate the poem on the blog, ( I really need to have a spring clean and categorise
my posts), so shall type it out for you below:

    Postage Stamp William Hart-Smith

If you should ever have to part from someone dear,
    tear yourself away.
Be sure the tear is where the perforations are.
Please, please do not ever recklessly sever,
shear yourself from some one other
so that their stamp is torn and you have part of their living,
bleeding flesh at your side worn.

From Selected Poems 1936-84 Angus and Robertson

Hope this fits the bill and that you are not suffering separation! ❤

thanks you! no – this does not have personal meaning right now – but I wanted to add it to a “page” I was making – and well, I ran out of time and so for now I will add it to my quotes page. It really is just so unique.

also, I think it is funny that I could not find it either – maybe you have a blog nanny who cleans for you. ha!!

well I also wish I had a computer nanny – and I was shocked the other day when I saw folders within folders within folders. And so cleaning those up (or just tossing them) is another summer goal.
        have a great week. 🙂

I can’t help you there. If it has following up on the top black bar it should come. Perhaps you aren’t following. Sometimes it is easy to turn off the follow. Anyway I’m always pleased to see you when you do visit and although I don’t at the moment have the time to read as much as I’d like I do enjoy visiting you as often as I can. Cheers Irene

Barbara, thank you for following my blog! Also, thank you again for taking part in my little project here: http://nothingofthekind.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/my-best-compliments/ and contributing a compliment! Now I’ve talked to my mentor about the article that I’m intending to write and she said the compliments would need a more personal touch in the form of the submitters’ first names and home countries. The newspaper I’m writing for is this one: http://www.insuedthueringen.de/, a small German local newspaper. I would be very grateful if you could give your first name and country for me to accompany your compliment in the paper. There is no more specific information needed.

    All the best to you!
