Frankston Beach, Victoria, Australia

Out the study window with bird’s nest ferns in the foreground.
Tomorrow October starts and day light saving begins on Sunday. Our weather has been beautifully cool, but a hot weekend is forecast. It is perfect weather for writing, but everything else seems to be getting in the way. We received a marvellous short story this morning, written by a friend from art school, all of those years ago. He writes with such humour, I’m hoping he’ll let me share it with you. I’d love to be able to write like him. Chris Fooks, the author of this piece, now lives in Scotland. What a small world we live in.
I always think we miss out on the benefits of daylight saving up in the sunshine state…. can’t be helped now though, as they had a plebescite. Look forward to the short story if you post it.

I say farewell, Amanda, for the moment. I hope you adjust to the early mornings! I hopefully will wait to get enough short stories for a book, so shall not post any more at present. My last post explains my situation. Wishing you happy blogging!

I can still not get over it that I have friends in Australia. We just spend the first cold night here. I am wearing socks and a jacket (besides other clothes) and you guys get ready for summer. One day I will wrap my head around it…but not today.

Bridget, wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to skip across the ocean and experience these differences? Our son and family are in America at present visiting Liza’s family and showing off their one year old. The world is getting smaller. 🙂

Yes, summer is on its way. We had the doors open with fly screens shut. The heaters off and winter blankets stored away. Yippee.

You are slightly ahead of us, Gerard, but it looks as if tonight will be the last cold night for a while. 🙂

Having hung on by the skin of my teeth through winter, the return of daylight saving seems miraculous. I’ve been eyeing the swimmers here with envy – beautiful weather, but the water’s not quite warm enough for me yet.

Sounds as if the warmer weather isn’t far away, Helen. How wonderful to have the water so close!

I have a friend whose work I’d like to share as well. He just agreed last night. He had such a wonderful comedic style..So we’re on the same track, Barbara! http://judydykstrabrown.com/2015/09/29/black-hills-reverie/
