“Life is a balance of holding on and letting go.” Rumi
Re blogged Brenda Ann Babinski, found at http://pastlifetourist.com/2015/01/28/finding-balance/
I love Brenda Ann’s thoughts and this one is a very important reminder to me as a parent. Love is a wonderful and selfless thing when bringing up young children. It is a sad love when it becomes a selfish, controlling weapon to the children who have grown up. I observed this with my own grandmother and her daughter and determined not to be the same. I hope to find the right balance.
For me there are many more interpretations of this Rumi quotation. Thoughts allow the mind to follow through with lots of permeations. How many of us wish for something and hold onto that thought, strangling it? If we put that thought out into the Universe, and let go, it allows that thought to be free. Gratitude to the Universe is part of that process. Knowing we’re part of a much bigger picture. Gratitude, love and letting go, help us to become the people we most want to be.
How would you interpret this quotation? Does it have meaning to you too?
Christine, would Gimp work with an Apple computer? I think I’ll have to get an Apple man to restore my broken computer…. That does sound interesting though! Thanks Christine. ❤

I know this quote and thought of it often after my first marriage of 23 years ended in divorce. I think my husband and I had reached a point where we were unhappy, perhaps threatened, when the other wanted to change or grow in new directions. A life lesson learned too late.

I’m sure you both learned much Janet, and built on this experience. Your comment moved me greatly.

My whole life seems to be about this. I sometimes feel I am standing on top of a see-saw trying not to lurch to one side or the other. Meditation is helping! I totally fell for the drama of you picture. I spent hours in my early twenties layering black and white photos of hands onto other images… but never got near this.

So good to hear your comment Hilary. I am glad you have found meditation helpful. Interesting to hear that you have worked with photography too, I wish I had persevered with Photoshop. There are such amazing things achieved with photography now.

I’m still saving up for Photoshop (I had it at work, but can’t justify it for writing novels!). My photography was of the big camera, film reels and darkroom type.

That sounds so exciting Hilary. The trouble is one can’t achieve everything, or can you? ❤

Barbara and Hilary, have you tried Gimp? Free, it does most of the things Photoshop can do. I took part in a Computational Arts MOOC last year, and we were taught how to use both Gimp and Photoshop. It was the first time I heard about RGB colour, how to use layers, and how one can repair images, one pixel at a time. I know not to trust all images I see these days!

Deb, I thought of you as I watched the tennis. Must be hard to play in the zone when surrounded by so many people. 😊

Some things will not let you go. You live with it but sometimes feels almost beyond endurance.

Letting go isn’t always easy… sounds as if letting go might make you feel more relaxed Gerard?
