I have so many friends in NYC whose first language is not English. Trying to explain this stuff can be hysterical. There are so many more, and writing it is even harder. 😉
Just take the word “run”.It can be verb or noun, Then dozens of meanings:I run for office, I run to the store, a run in the paint, a run in my stocking a run on food stocks, I made a run for beer, my nose is running, my car is running, he is running, run for your life….
